Sangeet Attire (Friday, October 18th)
Everyone is encouraged to wear traditional Indian or semi-formal attire.
The Sangeet is a colorful event that involves a lot of dancing, so come in any jazzy outfit that you love! Please keep in mind that the Sangeet will be outside throughout the entire evening, so we recommend bringing a light outer layer.
Wedding Ceremony Attire (Saturday, October 19th)
Everyone is encouraged to wear traditional Indian or formal attire.
The overall vibe will be slightly more formal than the Sangeet. Please keep in mind that all wedding events throughout the day will be outside (except for the afterparty, which will be inside), so we recommend bringing a light outer layer for the evening.
Guests are certainly not expected to wear traditional Indian attire.
If you choose to do so, we have provided for your reference an Indian Attire Guide below, which explains the different types of traditional Indian outfits typically worn at weddings and where to shop for traditional Indian attire.
indian ATTIRE guide
Traditional Indian party attire typically consists of vibrant, colorful clothing, often made of silk, chiffon, or other luxurious fabrics, and adorned with intricate embroidery or embellishments.
Sherwani
Kurta
lehenga
saree
Long-sleeved, knee-length coat typically paired with slim pants (churidar pants) and traditional Indian shoes (mojaris). This is a popular option for more formal wedding events.
Loose fitting, knee-length tunic typically paired with slim pants (churidar pants) and traditional Indian shoes (mojaris). This is a less formal and more lightweight option than a sherwani outfit.
Three-piece ensemble consisting of a scarf (dupatta), a cropped blouse (choli), and a long, A-line skirt (lehenga). This is a popular option because it’s much easier (and more comfortable) to wear than a saree.
Two-piece ensemble consisting of a cropped blouse (choli) and a long piece of fabric (saree or sari) to be wrapped around the waist and draped over the shoulders.
Please kindly note that sarees may be difficult to drape (and involves many, many safety pins) if this is your first time wearing one. We will not be providing a saree draper during the wedding weekend.
Recommended websites & stores
to shop for Indian outfits
Online
In Store - Los Angeles
We recommend checking out Indian clothing stores in Artesia, but there are also stores in the Fashion District and Santa Monica.
In Store - New York / New Jersey
We recommend checking out Indian clothing stores in Edison, N.J., but there are also stores in Jackson Heights (74th Street between 37th and 37th).
additional attire details
What colors should I avoid?
Black, white, red (reserved for bride during Hindu Ceremony), and hot pink (reserved for bride during the Sangeet).
Is it better to purchase my Indian attire online or in store?
Buying online will typically be cheaper than in-store, but going in-store and trying outfits on in person can be helpful to see what styles or colors fit you best.
How early should I order my Indian attire?
We recommend ordering as early as possible (especially if ordering online). Please note that most Indian outfits that come in readymade sizes may not always fit properly on the body and are not easily self-adjustable. As such, we recommend getting your Indian outfits tailored in advance if you need to. Please always check delivery times on the website or with the store and remember to factor in additional time for tailoring if needed.
Feel free to reach out to Anna and Ami with any questions on what to wear!

Thank you for joining us as we begin our exciting next chapter. Each of your presence in our lives means the world to us. While there is no need to get us a gift, if you would like to, we request all gifts be made in cash or check. As New Yorkers, counter and cabinet space is a rare luxury. In lieu of a normal wedding registry, we have set up a cash registry you can contribute to:
For those of you attending our wedding ceremony, we will also have a wedding card box.
Each of you hold a special place in our hearts, and we are incredibly grateful and blessed to call you our friends and family. We can’t wait to celebrate with you!
